Another batch of furuta pendulums

I did another batch of Furuta pendulums and took a timelapse of the assembly:

These were done in a bit of a hurry, and nothing was changed from last time.  At some point I'll probably do a refresh of the design, though.  After building 16 of these, I have a bunch of ideas about things I'd like to do differently, and I've gotten a few feature requests from the recipient as well.

And now, back to the other things in the pipeline.

  2. Do you give these as gifts or sell them somewhere? I can't imagine you'd need 16 for personal use.

    1. They were built for the controls department at a university.

  3. Can you elaborate on what you were looking to do differently in a redesign? Inspired by your blog and wanting to learn more about controls, I am taking a crack at a Furuta pendulum design.

    1. Just things to improve manufacturability - motor, encoder, and slip ring related mostly.

    2. I see. Thanks for the reply.

  4. Could you tell me how each Furutapendulum controller has its sampling time(seta, phi) and control cycle(Hz?)?

  5. Doesn't the wire coming down from the pendulum encoder get super twisted as the base rotates?
