I'm experimenting in moving from Blogger to a static site generator. I have zero interest in web development, but we live in the future, and Claude Code can do all the web dev for me - including migrating 16(!) years of Blogger posts.
Here it is:
https://robot-daycare.com/
Let me know if you hate it, like it, or find problems! Feedback is greatly appreciated. I may eventually set up forwarding scripts so Blogger posts get pointed to their corresponding pages on the new site, but I'll leave it alone for now.
The site is generated from markdown with Hugo and hosted with Cloudflare pages. There's an RSS feed, so you folks reading from Feedly (I see you in the stats) should be all set. I haven't checked every single post myself, but internal links should point to the new site, not the original Blogger page. Blogger comments are preserved in the HTML, and new comments use Cusdis.
At MITERS (the front door, maybe?) there was a sign that said something like: "MITERS - crazed robot daycare". I'd like to think I'm a little less crazed now, and what have I done with my career so far if not worked at robot daycares.
Love the new site. So fast!
ReplyDeleteI think the RSS might need some tweaks. The URLs point to localhost and the descriptions have a lot of carefully quotes html escapes for non breaking spaces.
ReplyDeleteOops, I'd fixed the localhost URL's in the rss feed locally but forgot to deploy. it at least passes RSS validators now
DeleteI'll miss the old dark theme and the funky header images, but seems to work well.
